As against what was witness in other part of the Country,
the Nigerian Labour Congress shut down Schools, banks and Governement office in
Jos.
The officials of the Union led by Mr. Sunday Akinfolarin as
early as 7am moved from one office to the other, chasing away workers who have
reported for work.
According to Punch, the strike embarked upon by the Nigerian
Labour Congress over the fuel subsidy removal took off in earnest in Jos and
Bukuru metropolis, with officials of the Union mobilising and persuading
workers to join in.
As early as 7am, a task force led by an official of the
Union, Mr. Sunday Akinfolarin, moved from one office to the other, chasing away
workers who had reported early for work.
The state and Federal secretariats were also closed down
stopping workers from gaining access to their offices, while Staff of the
University of Jos and the Nigerian Television Authority College were also
denied access to their various institutions by members of the NLC.
The Joseph Gomwalk secretariat was not excluded from the
action as the task force moved from one room to the other forcing workers out
of their offices.
