Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State has challenged Nigeria’s
First Lady, Hajia Aisha Buhari, to travel to the United States of America to
prove her innocence in the Halliburton scam.
Speaking through a statement released by his Chief Press
Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, Fayose, insinuated that Hajia Buhari has been
avoiding travelling to the US in order to evade arrest.
The Governor said Hajia Aisha had on three different occasions
refused to travel with her husband,
President Muhammadu Buhari to the US.
He added that when the wife of the president was invited to
an event in the US, she sent Toyin, the wife of the President of the Senate,
Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
In his words: “It is on record that the President has
visited USA three times and his wife did not travel with him. Equally, she
ought to have visited USA last year September to chair a United Nations
programme but she sent wife of the Senate President, Mrs Toyin Saraki to
represent her.”
Fayose had on Monday said Hajia Buhari was the person
indicted by a US Court for transferring $170,000 to indicted US Congressman,
Williams Jefferson, in the Halliburton scandal.
He released a link to the court judgment to back his claim.
